Cellulite Support

Cellulite is the built up of materials (toxins) that have accumulated in our fatty tissue are very difficult to eliminate, as they are heavy and sticky substances. This combination of uses will help support the cells to release these toxins.

    Rosemary
  • 20 Drops
    Fennel
  • 15 Drops
    Juniper Berry
  • 15 Drops

Cuticle Cream

Cold weather can be tough on skin and cuticles, and can often form dry spots and crack. Making a homemade cuticle cream is a great way to bring moisture and health back to your nails. You can also use this cream on your hands, lips, or anywhere you have dry spots.

Ingredients
  • 2 Tablespoons
    Shea Butter
  • 1 Teaspoon
    Beeswax
  • 1 Tablespoon
    Fractionated Coconut Oil
  • 7 Drops
    Lavender or Myrrh Essential Oil

Eucalyptus Spearmint Bath Salts

Eucalyptus Spearmint is one of my favorite blends at Bath & Body Works. It’s part of their Aromatherapy line. My favorites are the Shower Gel. Bath & Body Works says this scent combination promotes stress relief. I love it because it’s is so fresh and clean.

Ingredients
  • 2 Cups
Salt (I prefer coarse sea salt but you can use mineral salt or epsom salt)
  • 1 Cup
    Baking Soda (optional for bubbling)
  • 8 Drops
    Spearmint Oil
  • 16 Drops
    Eucalyptus Oil

Grapefruit Mint Soap

I’ve always been intrigued by the world of soap making. Choosing your own ingredients to make your own special scent, adding colors and textures to make it aesthetically pleasing, and then getting to share those goodies with friends and family just sounds like the best thing ever.

Ingredients
  • 10 Ounces
    goat's milk melt-and-pour soap base
  • 1
grapefruit (only zest half the grapefruit)
  • 1 Tablespoon
    poppy seeds
  • 10 Drops
    Grapefruit Oil
  • 4 Drops
    Peppermint Oil

Green Mandarin, Calendula & Vanilla Lip Balm

The basic idea is to first melt the beeswax and the vanilla jojoba, then add the calendula infused oil, and add the Green Mandarin essential oil last. Let the blend stand and harden for a few hours before use.

Measure the vanilla jojoba, calendula oil and beeswax by weight. I use a small kitchen scale to measure weight.

Ingredients
  • 1 Ounce
    Beeswax
  • 1 Ounce
    Calendula Oil
  • 2 Ounces
vanilla jojoba wax (jojoba “oil” is actually a wax)
  • 20 Drops
    Green Mandarin essential oil

Hard Lotion Bar Recipe

Most homemade lotion recipes involve quite a few ingredients, blenders and more mess than I’d prefer to clean up.  In contrast, all you need for these these bars is three ingredients, one pot, and molds – that’s it!

Ingredients
  • part Cocoa Butter or Shea Butter
  • part Oil, such as Coconut Oil or Olive Oil
  • part Beeswax

Homemade Body Butter

[glossary_exclude]

That is my first experience with Body Butter! Suffice it to say…my body LOVES it!

This recipe makes a fairly large batch of whipped body butter.  It starts with almost 2 full cups of butters and oils, so my suggested blends for essential oils call for up to 30 drops of essential oils (that’s a very low 0.1% dilution).  That’s what I prefer since (1) I’m using the whipped body butter in a fairly large amount all over my body on a daily basis and (2) my primary goal of the whipped body butter is not the therapeutic benefits of the essential oil.  You can, of course, adjust the amount of essential oil up or down to your preference.

  • 25 drops peppermint (I LOVE the peppermint combined with the chocolate scent of the cocoa butter!)
  • 30 drops orange OR tangerine (like the peppermint above, I think citrus smells amazing with the chocolate aroma of the cocoa butter)
  • 15 drops eucalyptus and 15 drops spearmint
  • 15 drops bergamot and 15 drops grapefruit
  • 12 drops wild orange, 9 drops cedarwood, and 6 drops ylang ylang
  • 10 drops patchouli and 20 drops tangerine
  • 15 drops lavender and 15 drops lemon
  • 10 drops helichrysum, 10 drops frankincense, 5 drops sandalwood, and 5 drops lavender

Please be careful adding citrus essential oils (especially bergamot) in high amounts if your skin will be exposed to the sun.

Another recommendation is to substitute shea butter for equal parts of shea, mango, and cocoa butter.
