Non-Greasy Moisturizing Cream Lotion

If you’re looking for something a bit lighter for the summer months, or just want to drink your coffee without dropping the mug, here is a great non-greasy moisturizing lotionalternative for you! This one’s made with shea butter and almond and jojoba oils, which are much more easily absorbed. And of course, it doesn’t contain anything you can’t pronounce.

Whether they’re dealing with a cold winter or playing in the dirt all day, your hands can take a beating. And while it doesn’t feel (or sound) quite as luxurious as the body butter, this non-greasy moisturizing lotion is easy to whip up and will still leave your hands feeling happy regardless of what they go through!

Ingredients
  • 1/2 Cup
    Shea Butter
  • 2 Tablespoons
oil (I used 1 Tbsp each of almond oil and jojoba oil)
  • 10 - 15 Drops
your favorite essential oils (I used lavender and rosemary)

Nourishing Body and Hand Cream

This lotion recipe uses essential oils. While they aren’t necessary, adding them can turn your lotion from being simply moisturizing to something that really addresses what is going on with your skin.

  • Dry or aging skin?  Try rose & geranium
  • Need to be energized and refreshed?  Try lavender, lemon, and grapefruit
  • Troubled skin like psoriasis or eczema?  Try helichrysum, frankincense, lavender, sandalwood, chamomile, rose or jasmine
  • Want to avoid Stretch Marks?  Try helichrysum, lavender, patchouli, neroli, rose, & geranium

Sweet Digestion Belly Butter

Have you ever experienced a tight, uncomfortable belly after eating cold foods (like ice cream) in winter? Cardamom essential oil is so helpful for that . . . and any time you feel bloated because you’ve eaten a bit too much.

In Aromatherapy for Healing the Spirit, Gabriel Mojay says Cardamom essential oil is “. . . a general tonic of the body’s vital energy, and its principle use lies in the treatment of digestive complaints . . .”

One of my favorite ways to use it is in a light body butter that you can rub on your belly and low back. Here’s a blend you can use before or after eating (or both!).

Ingredients
  • 3 Ounces
    (84 gm) Babassu oil
  • 1/2 Ounce
    (14 gm) Beeswax
  • 15 Drops
    Cardamom Oil
  • 10 Drops
    Roman Chamomile Oil
  • 16 Drops
    Sweet Orange Oil
  • 12 Drops
    Peppermint Oil
